How COVID-19 is changing the CHURCH

This may be one of the most important updates we have ever sent out. I want to make sure you are up to date with the changes we are making as a church. The global church is having to make significant changes, and fast! Here is what Highmark is prioritizing going forward:

Outreach - Learning the needs of our community and serving those needs. We are going to continue to live out generosity through the action step “see a need, serve a need.” There will be people who need food, financial help, and support. We want to step up to these opportunities.

Care - We are implementing a whole new way to keep people in community. We, along with our Lifegroup leaders, are putting a plan into action that will allow you to do life with others using the technology in your home. We are also working towards resources that will help us all grow in our faith during this historic season we are in.

Weekend Services - We had over 1500 views from our Sunday service this past weekend. We had more people watching and hearing an uplifting message than we ever have at one time. We will continue to make weekend services a priority and will work towards creative and relevant ways to make it a powerful and uplifting experience. 

We are currently rebuilding our website to be a greater resource for our entire church and community. We will make a major change to the way we provide resources for our kid's ministry, community groups, prayer, outreach, and so much more. Our Highmark team is working quickly to meet the demands of these needed changes.

I can’t stop speaking Romans 8:28 over this situation, God works all things to the GOOD! I truly believe in the face of this adversity and chaos that the church has one of its greatest opportunities in history. For the first time in our lives, nobody can use the excuse, “I’m busy”. Nobody is too busy anymore! In fact, it’s the complete opposite. People are now looking for things to occupy their time. We have just the thing. This is a season where people can spend time in the Word, pray together, serve those in need, and come out better and more prepared to lead their families and share the gospel. Highmark, this is our time. Look fear in the face and proclaim the promises of God over your life.

Here is what I would ask from you: get on board!

Make up your mind right now that you will go for it, even though some of this is new and challenging. Commit to a Lifegroup that meets online. Commit to attending and engaging in our online weekend services. Commit to seeing a need and serving a need. Together we are better!
